Last October, it took place at INEGI the launch of LAY2FORM, a Horizon 2020 European project which aims to manufacture a pilot line for manufacturing hybrid parts, composed of sheets of metal and composite sheets. In the pilot line, several technologies will be integrated to perform non-destructive tests in line with the zero-defect targets. Furthermore, simulation and online monitoring technologies will be used to make corrections to the process parameters using self-learning technologies.

INEGI is the leader of the project’s consortium and it is responsible for its coordination and management, as well as for the technical work related to the study of lay-up processes and 3D conformation of multilayer components. In addition, it will also contribute with methodologies for evaluating the sustainability of the technological solution to be implemented.
